New CEO for Akari Software

03 March, 2019

Some very positive news from Akari Software. Effective March 1st, 2019 Eoghan O'Leary moves from CEO to Executive Chairman and the Board is appointing John O’Donnell as CEO. John is the right CEO to bring the company to the next level. He has significant international business experience, particularly in the software industry.

John moved to Australia in 1989 and started in a business development role with financial management and supply chain software for a UK software company. He progressed to sales management and general management, and in 1998 moved to the US to run the West Coast division. He joined Blackbaud (leading provider of software and services to the non-profit sector) as Managing Director in 2005 to run the Australia-NZ business from Sydney. In 2011, Blackbaud acquired Everydayhero (online solutions for consumer fundraising) and he stepped into the leadership role there. John has worked with Akari Software for over a year now and we all know his boundless energy, dedication and professionalism.

Eoghan is not going anywhere – from 2019 onwards, he will be investing more of his time on the Akari strategic vision for the next 3-5 years, in particular to focus on new sales partnerships and market opportunities. Likewise, Paraic Hegarty will be focusing on new technical partnerships and product opportunities. As our global customer base continues to grow, we need to provide a greater level of Senior Management attention to ensuring the ongoing success of live customers. Therefore, we have asked Paul Hederman to take on the role of Director of Customer Success. He will be responsible for our ongoing relationship with customers.

Along with Helen Nason as CFO and Kabir Ahmed as Director of Software and Services, John has the support of a very experienced and capable senior management team. We will also be adding external senior management expertise to the board. These changes are designed to improve the service to  our customers.
